Meet the characters

  • Jess Hall

    Jess Hall

    is the main character. The books are all told from her point of view. She moves to Number 1, Porchester Park when her dad is given the job of general manager. At first she doesn’t want to go as she’s happy living at her gran’s house with her brother, Charlie and cat, Dave. However, when she hears that the apartments are going to be A-list only, she begins to look forward to it. But life at the new block isn’t all she expects it to be…

    Jess is fifteen, a fun, friendly, outspoken Saggitarius, with a vulnerable edge. She’s tall with long chestnut-coloured hair and blue eyes.

  • Alisha Lewis

    Alisha Lewis

    is the daughter of the A-list African-American actor, Jefferson Lewis. She lives in one of the fab apartments at Number 1, Porchester Park and becomes friends with Jess and Pia. She’s tall and sassy and says what she thinks. She hides a sweet nature behind a tough mask.

  • Pia Carslon

    Pia Carslon

    is Jess’s best mate. She lives with her Danish single mum and goes to the same school as Jess. Pia is small, curvy, cheeky, flirty and very stylish. She’s more confident than Jess and would do anything for her friend.

  • Flo & Meg

    are Jess’s other mates from school. Flo is tall and girlie, a romantic dreamer. Meg is small and the total opposite. She’s into sport, won’t be drawn into girlie stereotypes and makes up for her lack of height by doing martial arts.

  • Charlie Hall

    is Jess’s elder brother. He’s 16, tall, slim and fine-featured with floppy brown hair and honey-coloured eyes. Though he’s good-looking, he isn’t aware of it. He’s gentle-natured, lives for music and communicates best through the songs that he writes.

  • Tom Robertson

    is a boy babe. He’s in the sixth form at Jess’s school, has teen movie star looks: slightly scruffy with shoulder-length hair and beautiful jade-coloured eyes. He’s great-looking and boy, does he know it. Jess likes him a lot but wonders if she’s one on a long list of girls.

  • Jerome Junior (JJ) Lewis

    is Alisha’s seventeen-year-old brother. He lives upstairs at Porchester Park. He’s tall, fit and handsome with short hair, impeccable manners and great style. Jess has a crush on him but wonders if he’s out of her league.

  • Henry Nash

    lives at Porchester Park and is the son of the man who looks after the apartment’s cars. He’s a lad’s lad who likes a laugh, is cheeky and into sport. He’s medium height, dark-haired and stocky. For Pia, he was love at first sight.
